Sprinter cargo van delivery: what fits.

What that holds

• Pallets. A standard 48 × 40 pallet fits between the wheel wells either way round, and up to three go in a row on the 10.5 ft floor. Call with the count, the height and the weight and you'll get a straight answer.
• Long pieces. Up to 10.5 ft flat on the floor. Pipe, trim, doors and boxed fixtures are typical.
• Tall pieces. Anything that clears the 73 in rear door stands up inside, with 79 in of headroom.
• Heavy pieces. The van carries 3,500 to 3,600 lbs of freight, with the driver already counted out. Parts, tools, machine components and cased equipment all ride on the floor rings.

What doesn't go

• Anything that needs a liftgate or a pallet jack at either end.
• Hazmat, and temperature-controlled freight.
• Household goods.
• Anything wider than 61 in or taller than 73 in at the rear door.

Why a van for urgent freight

The van is rated under 10,001 lbs, so the federal hours-of-service clock that parks a truck for ten hours does not apply to it. On a long run that means your freight keeps going instead of sitting in a truck stop overnight.
